If you are looking to add some nostalgia and charm to your front door than a lion door knocker is perfect for you. Ditch that doorbell and go with a lion door knocker that will be the talk of the town.

Door knockers were once the norm on many front doors, but with the advent of the doorbell, these great unique pieces have been slowly disappearing.  But, they are still available and very easy to install. Actually there are several kinds of the lion door knocker  available and I will review some of my favorites.

The first lion door knocker that I will tell you about is the  LK-44 font door knocker made by Stacks and Stacks one of the premier door knocker manufactures today.  This stylish door knocker is big and bold!  Measuring 10″H x 6″W x 3.25″D, you will need to make sure your door is large enough for this massive lion door knocker.  It’s a hand polished brass finish that makes it POP on your door. Made with a cased brass material, there will be no doubt that this thing will last as long as you house. Installation will be a snap as all the hardware needed is included. I love this door knocker due to its bold look and it will add some elegance and curb appeal instantly to your home. As mentioned, I would recommend installation only on a larger front door.  If you have the standard 80”X36” door, than this lion door knocker will over power it making it look out of place. Cost will range from $140 – $160 dollars depending on where you decide to make your purchase. Of course, shipping will also impact the cost but you should be able to find a online retailer that offers free shipping.

If you are in the market for a standard door lion head knocker than take a look at the Cifial 711.101 lion head door knocker.  This door knocker measures 4.5″ – Height: 8.75″, so it will fit on you standard door very nicely without being too big or too small. It’s available in three unique finishes…Weathered, Satin Nickel and PVD Brass.  Having these different finishes will also be beneficial to match your doors current hardware.  The majestic lion head also looks very cool and original. This medium sized lion door knocker will cost you around $120. A little pricey for the size of the knocker, but well worth it.

These are just two lion door knockers that I have purchased and love them both. One is on my house and the other is on my mother’s house. But, if  you not into lions all that much…you in luck there are many other different kinds of door knockers to choose from:
